
HACP Institutes Veteran Preference for Public Housing Admission
Veteran Status Now a Preference for Low-Income Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher Program Admission
The Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh (HACP) has instituted a Veteran Preference for the Low-Income Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher Programs. The preference is granted to any active duty United State service member and extends to:
Low Income Public Housing
- The household of which the service member or veteran is a member.
- The surviving household members of a deceased service member or veteran who died of service connected causes, provided the death occurred during active duty service or within five (5) years of discharge from service.
- The death occurred not more than five (5) years from the date of application for housing.
Housing Choice Voucher Program
- The household of which the service member or veteran is a member.
- The surviving household members of a deceased service member or veteran who died of service connected causes.
To qualify for either program, families must meet the following income guidelines:
